Network

The Tunisian railway network consists of 23 lines, with a total length of 2,170 km:

  • 460 km of standard gauge lines (1.437 m).
  • 1,701 km of metric gauge lines (1 m), of which 90 km (65 km between Sousse Bab Jedid – Mahdia & 25 km between Tunis – Erriadh) are electrified.
  • 9 km of mixed gauge lines (standard and metric).

The operating network length is 1,797 km:

  • 1,571 km of single-track lines.
  • 226 km of double-track lines.

In addition, the railway network includes 196 stations, stops, and halts. It also features rail-road connections aimed at promoting bimodal passenger transport combining rail and road services (currently suspended).
